How to Remove Data Recovery

Data Recovery screenshotData Recovery is yet another carbon copy of the programs in the long series that includes Master Utilities and System Recovery. It’s a classic scareware program, barging into your computer uninvited and pulling out all the stops to get you to pay for phony software. It’ll tell you your computer’s full of viruses and errors, and when you plunk down your money to fix them you’ll get nothing in return.

But even if you’re on to the scam, you’re still going to be bombarded with Data Recovery pop-ups until either your computer conks out or you do something to clean this pest out of your system. So don’t just leave it alone and hope it goes away.

Smashing your computer to bits may seem like the easy answer, but I’ve got a better idea. Follow these steps to get rid of Data Recovery for free.

DIY Data Recovery Removal Instructions

Not sure how to delete Data Recovery files? Click here, and I’ll show you. Or, go ahead and…

Stop Data Recovery processes:

[random].exe

Delete Data Recovery files:

All users\Application Data\TEMP\[random].exe

Note: In any files I mention above, “%UserProfile%” is a variable referring to your current user’s profile folder. (Not an iEuphemism for muth@fugg@#*!@.) So if you’re using Windows NT/2000/XP/7, by default this is “C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENT USER]” (e.g., “C:\Documents and Settings\NoahFence”).

What’s Data Recovery?

Probably just junk. But lemme explain some fancy related defintions.

Data Recovery may be fake — or rogue — antispyware, and I can explain what rogue antispyware is.. Meanwhile, try not to throw your PC out the window. There’s hope; scroll back up.
