WiniFighter Online Scanner screenshot There are more rogue security apps around than real ones, and the fakes look as good as that Folex you saw on Canal Street. WiniFighter Online Scanner is one of the latest fakes, and it looks as good as it is useless.

It’s no wonder — WiniFighter Online Scanner is a knock-off of the latest version of Kapersky’s Online Scanner, and WiniFighter Online Scanner promises it’ll scan your computer for viruses and other nasties. And WiniFighter Online Scanner will find lots of them — because its whole goal is to scare you into buying WiniFighter, which’ll then pretend to get rid of the badware that was never there to begin with.

If you want to scan for badware, run a proper scanner, not WiniFighter Online Scanner.
